If you happen to be in New York at any time (or if your lucky enough to live there then please ignore this post!) you will probably find yourself being eagerly urged to go and check out the Brooklyn Flea Market. And you should. Even if, like me, you are not a great flea market goer and are more likely to cover yourself in tomato sauce from the hotdog you ate than actually unearth a treasure (it’s a real knack finding a bargain I find. Not the tomato sauce dripping – that happens to everyone right?) I promise you that you will find something to catch your eye.
With over 250 stalls selling a tightly curated selection of antiques, vintage fashions and furniture, jewellery, art and fresh food you can scour to your hearts content all weekend with outdoor markets held on Saturdays in Forte Green, Sundays in Williamsburg, and underneath the Brooklyn Bridge in Dumbo an both days of the weekend. Every weekend from April until Thanksgiving when the market then moves indoors until March.
For the foodies amongst you there are two giant food only markets featuring products from around 100 local and regional producers. Smorgasburg can be found in Williamsburg on Saturdays and at the Brooklyn Bridge Park on Sundays
