Proto-type | The Vanguards

A new wave of creatives are emerging in Brisbane and they are clearly on a mission to redefine the way in which we access local design. If you’re lucky enough to be in town on the 19-20 July, our advice is to hop along to the auspicious launch of Proto-type. The brain child of local architect Paul Owen (Owen and Vokes and Peters), who has teamed up with designer Dan Pike (The Letter D) and one of our favourite contributing photographers, Toby Scott. Proto-type is an independent platform for trialling, making and selling small scale design in an effort to create immediacy and accessibility between both Brisbane creatives and the local public.

The inaugural event is split into two chapters, with an intimate wine and cheese event in the city on July 19, then followed by a beer and skittles soirée the following day in the leafy suburb of Clayfield. Paul, Dan and Toby have curated a covetable selection of small-run furniture pieces and published material which attendees will have the opportunity to purchase. For full details visit the Proto-type tumblr site.
